Fatty Acid Composition of Gilthead Sea Bream (Sparus aurata) Fillets as Affected by Current Changes in Aquafeed Formulation

چکیده
The aquafeed industry is facing the lack of availability of fish meal and oil. The need of an economic and environmental sustainability has increased the use of plant-derived oils. In order to provide an overview of which ingredients are the most frequently used in GSB diet and as they affect the lipid composition of aquafeeds, we analyzed 26 feed samples collected from farmers. At the same time, 44 farmed GSB were analyzed to compare the fatty acid (FA) composition with 21 wild GSB and 46 GSB farmed in 2005. Twenty-four different ingredients were declared in the analyzed feeds. Fish meal and oil were present in all samples, even if they were not the principal protein and lipid source in the analyzed feeds. If we consider the FA n-3/n-6 ratio, feeds presented a range from the lowest value of 0.35, to the maximum of 2.26. Concerning fish FA, 2014farmed GSB presented an increased difference with wild GSB, if compared with those reared in 2005, due to the higher presence of oleic and linoleic acid. Our study confirms the increase of use of plant ingredients in aquafeeds and the decrease of the fish meal and oil inclusion in feeds.

متن کاملPreliminary Investigation on the Use of Allyi Isothiocyanate to Increase the Shelf-Life of Gilthead Sea Bream (Sparus Aurata) Fillets
The aim of this work is to evaluate the activity of allyl isothiocyanate (AITC) against fish spoilage bacteria (specific spoilage organisms; SSOs) as well as its possible use in gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata) fillets to extend their shelf-life. In this regard, in vitro tests are carried out in order to evaluate the inhibitory activity of AITC and its vapours on several strains of SSOs. The ...

In order to evaluate differences in general health and nutritional values of gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata), the effects of semi-intensive, land-based tanks and sea-cages intensive rearing systems were investigated, and results compared with captured wild fish. The physiological state was determined by measuring the activity of three different intestinal digestive enzymes: alkaline phosphat...
متن کاملHigh levels of vegetable oils in plant protein-rich diets fed to gilthead sea bream ( Sparus aurata L.): growth performance, muscle fatty acid profiles and histological alterations of target tissues.
The feasibility of fish oil (FO) replacement by vegetable oils (VO) was investigated in gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata L.) in a growth trial conducted for the duration of 8 months. Four isolipidic and isoproteic diets rich in plant proteins were supplemented with L-lysine (0.55 %) and soya lecithin (1 %). Added oil was either FO (control) or a blend of VO, replacing 33 % (33VO diet), 66 % (6...
